Hot, Sweaty and Tired!

Yeah, it's a hot day here, again in the upper 90's, but that's ok too. Since I had a day off from work, I went to the driving range to give a couple of lessons. It seems a couple of the young guys at work are getting into the golf spirit, so they wanted to learn how to hit their new clubs.

Well, there's nothing I enjoy much more than that, so in spite of the heat, off I went, and it turned out to be an enjoyable time. One guy is so primed that he's already entered into a local tournament next weekend, so we had our work cut out for the day. Altogether though, I was impressed to see the progress for a beginner, and I think he will have a lot of fun.

For me personally, I used most of the time working on my short game, and around the putting green, since I think that's where I need most work. Then after coming home, of course I had to hit some more in the back yard with my personal coach, Tanner. At least he loves chasing the balls and bringing them back to me, so I don't have to walk so far, LOL.

And congratulations to Y.E. Yang from South Korea for his victory this past week at the PGA championship. I can't wait to get to Davao and play some of those hard and fast fairways and greens, hopefully with Katherine. Maybe she'll get the fever too....
Wow, I wish I could teach this game for a living!

Moving?...Direct TV, No problem!!

When you face the chores of moving from one location to another, it's always a very difficult time. There are so many things to take care of, to plan for, and not the least is having to change all your services such as phone, electric, water...yeah, it's a headache to be sure. But one bright spot to look for is if you have Direct TV they will handle the headache for you. No fuss, no muss, just let them know and they will do the hard part. That's one less worry you have to deal with, and believe me, one less can sometimes mean a lot.

Direct TV is an established company, and the leader this past year in the industry. You have so many options to choose from to suit your own needs, from over 130 channels, up to the premier package with more than 265 channels. Wow! That's a lot of programs to chose from. The service you get from Direct TV is also outstanding. I know first hand, because when I moved several years ago, there was no problems at all.

You can go to their website and simply put in your zip code, and do everything on line, without having to leave your home. In my location on the East Coast, I simply go to the site, put in my state and zip, and it's all there. Direct TV-New York.

For ease of installation, the best pricing options available, and great customer service, you owe it to yourself to try Direct TV today. And remember, if you're moving, or even thinking of planning a move in the future, this is one headache you can avoid for yourself by letting them do the work for you.

Some Time Off

I'm actually here in the house today, with nothing really pressing except what I feel like doing. What a good day!

So far I've gotten the yard work finished, taken care of my little tomato and pepper plants, and have been able to enjoy the morning coffee without being disturbed. The past few weeks have been hectic to say the least, with inspections at work taking up more of my time than usual, then helping my sister do some repairs at her house, so this week I decided to take a day or two extra of vacation time from work and relax.

I changed everything over to the cable company this week, phone, internet and TV service all bundled together, and I'm enjoying this DSL, and OMG...the Golf channel 24 hours a day, LOL!

I think I'll have to practice my short game some more this afternoon since the weather is so nice, and maybe even wash and wax the truck. Dinner will be (I think) garlic rice with general Tso's chicken, I'm in the mood for something spicy. It's a little too spicy for Tanner, but luckily I have his grilled chicken breasts, and after he coaches me with my golf swing, I'm sure he will be hungry too.

Oh, I know, this is just a rambling post, but now I have to get back in the swing of things and try to come up with something interesting to write about. Hopefully I will start having time once again so I can do the things I enjoy most. But first, I need to go pull some of those peppers for dinner, and get some put in the freezer for a rainy day.

Back From the Beauty Salon....

No, not me, although I could surely use some time with a makeover. But today was Tanner's day. We just got home from the groomer's, where he had the works done; nails clipped, hair cut and trimmed, shampoo, and a lovely little blue bandanna around his neck.

He's so clean and fresh smelling, and he knows it too! Very happy when I went back to pick him up, wanting to show off and prance around, so it's a worthwhile day to have my best friend in such good spirits. Maybe one day soon I'll do the same for myself.

Vacation Days???

I took a couple of day of vacation time this week to hopefully rest a little, but that's just not to be, I suppose. Oh, I'm not complaining, at least some things were accomplished, just not on my golf game, LOL.

My sister has been wanting me to help her repair her bedroom floor, so I agreed to do that. In the process, I would up just replacing the whole floor, in the long run it was easier to do, and a permanent job. Then laying the tiles, which was the easy part, but a little time consuming. They're about halfway finished now, so I'm off again on Monday and I'll finish the rest then.

It's sort of fun actually, doing this kind of work, at least it's different from my everyday tasks. The only drawback is a sore thumb, which I whacked pretty good with the hammer. It only took the one time, and I learned very quickly not to do it again!

Well, even though I'm more tired now than if I had not taken any days off, it's worth it. Over the past year, my sister has been with me through all my medical trials, the doctors visits, hospitals, etc., so it's the least I can do to repay her for her time spent at that.

Now I'm actually looking forward to doing some renovating around here, just small things really, but things I have been putting off for a while. I guess it's good to get in the right mood.

Summer Thunder....

Now here's another little thing about summertime in my part of the world, the thunder-showers we get when the weather is so hot. For me, this isn't a bad thing at all, because I enjoy the thunderstorms and the rain. Tanner though, there's a different story. The sound of the thunder scares him, he doesn't like lightening at all, and maybe not so crazy about hard rain. So during these times, I have 120 pounds of scared fur all over me, trying to get as close as possible.

Myself on the other hand, for some reason I enjoy the storms. I like to watch as mother nature unleashes all her power, and I find it very relaxing. (Except for the 120 pounds of fur in my lap)

I like to watch the rain, and listen to it as it hits the roof, think about all the good it's doing for the grass, trees and flowers. And I like the after-rain smell, when everything seems cleansed. My only drawback is that now I'm reduced to only practicing my putting inside the house, which isn't such a bad thing either, if you were to watch me putt.

As I sit here now I can hear the thunder moving off in the distance, the rain has become a steady sound on the roof, so I think I'll try and go to bed and enjoy the alluring sounds of nature as I fall asleep. What about you...do you ever just simply enjoy nature for herself?

Hot, Tired, but Happy

Yes, it's hot here today. After a long winter that, to be honest, could have been much worse, springtime arrived and allowed me to get outdoors again, and now summer is here and the heat is on. But I won't complain, because I get to do a lot of things I enjoy.

I actually enjoy doing the yard work, though it's hard sometimes, but nice. I really love to cook outside on the grill, and of course Tanner absolutely loves that too, because he knows that when I cook for me, I also cook for him. Spoiled? Yeah, but that's what he's here for.

Then there's the planting of tomatoes and peppers, that's about all I did this year, but I'm a real squash and okra lover too! Just don't seem to have enough time right now to take care of all those things.

And of course there's golf! One of the things that brings me much pleasure is simply hitting golf balls. Even when I'm not playing on the course, I enjoy so much just practicing in the back yard. I think I mentioned before that I have a fairly large yard, so I have a flag stick and small green at one end, and since I'm surrounded by woods, there's no neighbors house close enough to worry about, so the only windows I can break are my own, lol. I've been lucky though, and that hasn't happened. About the best exercise I get is retrieving the balls after Tanner chases them and puts them all in a little pile next to his big tree. But I guess that's exercise for both of us.

Talking to Katherine tonight, she was telling me that it's not so hot there today, and it made me wish to be in Davao so I could go play at Apo golf course. But then we got to talking about the sea, and I was thinking that maybe I would rather walk down there and enjoy the water. I believe that when I finally get there for good, there's going to be plenty to keep me busy.

Having to work different shifts also takes a lot of my time, for the next three days I have to open, which means getting up at 5:00 in the morning, after that I'll be closing, meaning I will be getting to bed to sleep around that same time, so it does take a toll.
I hope you are also enjoying whatever weather you're having right now, and are able to get out and do the things you like to do. Whatever that may be, just stay happy!

Double Take...

I couldn't pass this up as my pic' of the day....
